Anti-Doping

  • The Championships has always supported the principle of a fair, professional and uniform programme of drug testing to be operated throughout the game.

  • The Tennis Anti-Doping Programme is operated by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).  The list of prohibited substances and doping methods is in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the ITF Tennis Anti-Doping Programme is fully compliant with the WADA World Anti-Doping Code.
  • Every competitor is warned about the risks of taking supplements.
  • Anti-Doping testing will be carried out at The Championships this year in accordance with the 2006 ITF Tennis Anti-Doping Programme.

  • Blood testing will be continued after being introduced for the first time in 2003.

  • Players are notified on leaving the court that they are to be tested and must report to the Doping Control Station within 1 hour.  Until the time that the player reports to the Doping Control Station the player is chaperoned by an escort.

  • All anti-doping testing is carried out independently of the tournament organisers.
