Wimbledon surplus secured for future of British tennis

The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) propose to renew and extend their existing agreement relating to The Championships, Wimbledon, with the LTA and British Tennis receiving 90% of any distributable financial surplus resulting from The Championships until at least 2053.

The Championships 2008 generated £25.667 million, all of which will be invested into British Tennis.

2008 Wimbledon Championships

The 122nd Championships saw Spain's Rafael Nadal beat the five-time champion Roger Federer in quite possibly the finest men's final in the history of The All England Club. In the ladies' event, defending champion Venus Williams defeated her sister Serena to clock up her fifth Wimbledon victory in nine years.
