Second seed Vera Zvonareva eased into the semi-finals of the Hobart International with a straight-sets win over Elena Vesnina.

Russian Zvonareva, the highest seed left in the draw after Alona Bondarenko crashed out to Eleni Daniilidou in the second round on Tuesday, posted a 6-3 6-3 victory over compatriot Vesnina to set up a last-four meeting with Ashley Harkleroad.

American Harkleroad triumphed 6-4 6-4 in her quarter-final encounter with unseeded Romanian Edina Gallovits.

Daniilidou followed her shock win over Bondarenko with a 6-4 7-5 win over Casey Dellacqua to set up a semi-final clash with Flavia Pennetta, who eliminated sixth seed Sania Mirza 7-5 1-6 6-3.
