Ana Ivanovic maintained her excellent recent form with a straight-sets win over unseeded Emilie Loit in the second round of the Sony Ericsson Open on Saturday.
The second-seeded Serbian, fresh off her victory over Svetlana Kuznetsova in the Pacific Life Open final last weekend, dispatched the Frenchwoman with a dominant 6-1 6-2 victory to set up a third round clash with 32nd seed Lindsay Davenport.
Ivanovic needed only 45 minute as she won 80% (12 of 15) of her first serves and did not face a break point against Loit.
Davenport was equally dominant as she claimed her place in the third round with a 6-2 6-1 win over another French player, Camille Pin.
Fourth seed Jelena Jankovic survived a major scare as she eliminated Sweden's Sofia Arvidsson 6-7 (7/9) 6-2 7-6 (11/9) after a marathon two-and-a-half-hour match.
Also advancing on Saturday were fifth seed Anna Chakvetadze of Russia, who ousted Austria's Tamira Paszek 6-3 6-2, seventh seed Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia, who overpowered Venezuelan Milagros Sequera 6-2 6-1, and 10th seed Russian Elena Dementieva after a 6-0 6-4 victory over Ukraine's Kateryna Bondarenko.
However, 12th seed Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic went out 6-4 6-0 to Russian qualifier Alisa Kleybanova, while 14th seed Nadia Petrova retired from her match against unseeded Jie Zheng due to a right leg strain.
