Maria Sharapova will become the top player in women's tennis when the updated WTA Tour rankings are released on Monday.
World number one Justine Henin announced her retirement on Wednesday and, at her request, the WTA will remove her from the rankings this week.
Sharapova, who won the Australian Open in January, will assume the top spot for the fourth time in her career.
